Saturday Drama School
Our Saturday Drama school is held every week during term time. Classes are available for 5-9 years, 10 - 14 years and 15 years + and lessons are priced at £7.50 for 5-9 year olds and £8.00 for 10 years+. There is also opportunity for individual and small group adult lessons on Saturday afternoons.
Children have the chance to work in small groups and enjoy making new friends. Every class is different and is tailored to suit the needs of the group. A typical lesson includes:
- introducing ourselves
- miming
- improvisation and characterisation using a set theme
- breathing and posture exercises
- enunciation work including how vowel and consonant sounds should be spoken
- reading or reciting aloud in front of a small group
- examination preparation where applicable
Our small class setting guarantees an element of one to one teaching for each child in every lesson as well as providing a platform for group improvisation and acting work. New starters or shy individuals benefit from our small classes because they can build up to speaking aloud in front of others at their own pace is a very safe environment. Children are invited to stand up and speak but are never forced to do something which makes them feel uncomfortable. Usually after three or four lessons even the most shy children readily volunteer to stand up to read a poem to their new friends.
Pupils leave their Spotlight lesson feeling energised and full of life. They exercise their voices, bodies and imaginations and above all they will feel good about themselves!
